Dr Yip, of Wing Yip Ltd organised another annually-held BBQ party for the Chinese community in the Wing Yip Supermarket complex in Brent Cross, London. Around 400 people tuned up including staff members from the Chinese Embassy. A team of BBQ chefs prepared the food on the spot with drinks handed out freely to anybody who was thirsty. Tiger and cobra beers were widely
available as well as Qingdao Dry Red and
Huadong Chardonnay. Otherwise you could get any form of soft drinks imaginable both well-known western brands and oriental ones. Many guests including a variety of nationalities came from far. One English couple came down all the way from Birmingham in a 2-hour
drive. It turned out the guy was an employee of Wing Yip. He said it was a good way of soaking up the atmosphere and he didn't minded the 2-hour drive down and another two to go back. There were also guests from Japan, South Korea, India and
Sri Lanka. Many of the Chinese also enjoyed some
karaoke songs. One has to confess some were better than others. Dr Yip is very generous yet humble at the same time. He was helping with handing out the drinks and food and sometimes clearing up the tables. At the close of this
momentous event he thanked everybody who
attended the BBQ. What an incredible gentleman!
